Sophomore midfielder Matt Armstrong has seen action in all 14 games for the Irish in 2008, registering two assists and two points. The Phoenix, Ariz. native has started every game of his career with the Irish and was named to the All-Freshman Team by Soccer America and College Soccer News last season.

Q. What is your cell phone ring?
A. My phone is always on vibrate, so no ring tone.

Q. Do you have any nicknames?
A. Matty

Q. Where do you want to be in 10 years?
A. Hopefully playing professional soccer in Europe or coaching soccer.

Q. Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions?
A. I always sit on the same seat on the bus and put my gear on the same way.

Q. If you could be any superhero, who would you be?
A. Superman

Q. Which has been the biggest game of your career?
A. So far, the game against Wake Forest in the Elite Eight.

Q. What do you miss the most about being at home?
A. The weather, my family and friends and the girls.

Q. Where is your favorite place at Notre Dame?
A. The soccer fields

Q. What is your favorite memory with your Irish teammates?
A. Beating Santa Clara in the Sweet 16 last year.

Q. If you could trade places with Coach Clark for a day, what would you do?
A. Take a day to relax, maybe go on a vacation.

Q. What television show would you like to make an appearance on?
A. Iron Chef. I could beat Bobby Flay.

Q. When you were younger, what were you always getting in trouble for?
A. Getting in fights or annoying people.

Q. What is the greatest place soccer has taken you?
A. I have been lucky enough to go to Europe and South America to play soccer. It has been pretty great.

Q. What is the most notable thing about your hometown?
A. I'm from Phoenix, so I'd say the sun and Mexican food.

Q. Growing up playing soccer, I always pretended to be...
A. At first Michael Owen, but then I learned I'm more like Roy Keane.

Q. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you?
A. A soccer ball, my computer and something to hunt with.

Q. If you could eat just one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A. I love ice cream.

Q. What does being part of the Fighting Irish mean to you?
A. It means I get to play for one of the best teams in the nation.
