Notre Dame, Ind. - For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Notre Fame men's soccer team has earned the NSCAA/adidas College Team Academic Award for exceptional performance as a team during the 2001-02 academic year.

Notre Dame was one of 67 men's teams recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for its academic achievements in the classroom. The award will be presented at the College Coaches Luncheon on Thursday, January 16 at the 2003 NSCAA Convention.

Irish players earned a cumulative 3.10 for the '01-'02 academic year. Eleven members from last year's squad, which finished with a 12-7 record, were named to the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team. Former Irish defensive standout Andreas Forstner was a second team NSCAA/adidas Scholar Athlete honoree, which marked the second straight year an Irish player earned the honor.

Notre Dame first earned the award in 1998-99. Only one other BIG EAST school (Syracuse) will receive the award at the Convention in January.
