AS A FRESHMAN: Distance swimmer who made an immediate impact, winning an individual BIG EAST Championship in his first year while also accumulating another all-BIG EAST accolade and achieving three NCAA B-cuts ... won the 1,650 freestyle at the BIG EAST Championships, posting a season-best time of 15:16.77, which also earned him second place in the Notre Dame team record books ... took second in the 500 freestyle, recording a readout of 4:24.28 which was good for an NCAA B-cut ... placed eighth in the 200 butterfly with his best time of the season during prelims (1:48.00) ... turned in a 1,000 freestyle split of 9:14.40 during the 1,650 at the BIG EAST Championships, which placed him second in team history for the event ... came in third in the 1,650 in dual meet action against Michigan State ... also competed in meets against Pittsburgh, Northwestern, Louisville, Purdue, and the quad meet against Michigan, Oakland, and TCU ... represented the Irish at the 2012 US Olympic Trials, competing in the 400 meter free (4:07.75, 109th) and the 1,500 meter free (16:10.61, 78th) ... earned a monogram.
