Will serve as one of the team’s two captains with classmate Ray Fitzpatrick for the 1999-2000 season. AS A JUNIOR: One of three swimmers given the team’s most improved award in 1998-99 ... participated in 11 different events for the Irish, mainly in the 200 and 400 individual medleys, 500 freestyle and 200 backstroke ... placed first twice in the 500 freestyle at the Bill Ritter Invitational and in the dual meet against Wisconsin-Milwaukee ... posted runnerup finishes six times in a variety of events including the 200 and 400 individual medleys, the 200 backstroke and the 200 and 1000 freestyle events ... recorded three career-best times at the 1999 Notre Dame Invitational in the 400 individual medley (4:04.32), the 200 backstroke (1:53.79) and the 500 freestyle (4:39.93) ... swam three events at the 1999 BIG EAST championships, highlighted by a trip to the consolation finals of the 400 IM (13th) and placing 15th in the 1650 freestyle. AS A SOPHOMORE: Consistently finished in the top four in all of his events in 1997-98 ... took second place in the 500-yard freestyle at the Shamrock Classic with his season-best time of 4:46.88 ... won the 200 backstroke against Western Ontario. AS A FRESHMAN: One of Notre Dame's most consistent performers in dual meets in 1996-97 ... won the 800 free against Western Ontario and was second in the 200 individual medley against Wisconsin-Milwaukee ... finished third in nine events and was fourth five times ... swam the 1,650 free at the BIG EAST championships, placing 16th ... took third in 1,650 free at the Notre Dame Invitational.
