AS A JUNIOR:Played an instrumental role in leading the Irish to the 2009 BIG EAST title ... anchored the 400 Free Relay team to an upset over top-ranked Louisville in 2:54.08 ... that race came own to the final turn and length with Hoffman holding off a charging Louisville swimmer to inch ahead of the second-place Cardinals (2:54.40) ... the performance set a school and league record ... bettered the school's 50 Free record at the league meet in 20.39, a mark that was later reset by classmate John Lytle ... went 44.23 in the 100 Free at the BIG EAST meet while clocking in at 1:37.25 in the 200 Free ... turned in one of the team's top 100 Fly times of the season with a 49.04 against Olivet ... earned all-BIG EAST honors in the 200 (2nd) and 400 Free Relay (1st). AS A SOPHOMORE: An integral member in the successful Irish relays at the BIG EAST Championships while claiming three all-league honors ... the third leg of the champion 800 Free Relay (6:23.45) team consisting entirely of underclassmen ... that group also set a school record with their mark ... part of the second-place finishing 200 and 400 Free Relays, also setting a program best in the latter event ... also anchored the fifth-place 200 Medley Relay team at the league meet ... as a leg in four Irish relays, helped the team earn 136 points en route to claiming the overall title ... had notable individual swims in the 200 Free (1:39.15) and 100 Free (11th place, 48.54) at the BIG EAST meet ... sprinted to a 21.26 at the Ohio State Invitational in the 50 Free ... went 1:58.11 in the 200 IM at the Shamrock Invitational.
