AS A SENIOR (2011-12): Runner-up in the 500 free (4:59.90) at Valparaiso ... finished with a time of 1:42.35 in the 200 free at the Hawkeye Invitational ... logged a season-best 21.67 in the 50 free at the Shamrock Invitational ... placed fourth in the 100 back (50.32) at the Shamrock Invitational ... clocked a 1:50.87 to claim fifth place in the 200 back at the Shamrock Invitational.
AS A JUNIOR (2010-11): Had a phenomenal showing at the BIG EAST Championships as an exhibition showing ... broke his own personal records in the 100 and 200 back, clocking in at 50.05 and 1:48.43, respectively ... also swam the 500 free in 4:36.66 at the league championships, just over a second away from another personal-best swim ... top 1,000 free time on the season came against Cleveland State when he touched the pad at 9:57.51.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2009-10): Set two season best times at the BIG EAST Championships as an exhibition swimmer... times included a 4:40.49 performance in the 500 free and a 1:50.98 performance in the 200 back ... recorded a personal best performance in the 100 back (51.74) in the preliminary session of the Ohio State Invitational ... trimmed greater than ten seconds off his 200 back time over the course of the season.
AS A FRESHMAN (2008-09): Swam 20 backstroke races throughout the year ... best 100 back (51.93) came during the BIG EAST Championships ... top 200 back (1:51.64) was also posted at the league meet ... went 4:35.64 in the 500 free at the league meet for a season- best in that event ... earned the team's Beeler- Hipp award.
THE WHITCOMB FILE:Prepped at Homestead (Wis.) ... earned an All-American honor
in the 100 back ... high school team captain ... graduated with distinguished honors, finishing in the top 10 of his class ... youngest of five children, each of whom are swimmers ... participated in the 2004 USA Luge training camp held in Marquette, Mich. ... grandfather and uncle graduated from Notre Dame ... an anthropology major in the College of Arts and Letters.
