The men and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Purdue on November 6th at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.
AS A SENIOR: Took home two top-eight finishes in his signature events, the 100 and 200 back at the BIG EAST Championships ... touched the pad in 49.91 in the 100 back (seventh place) and 1:47.05 in the 200 back (seventh place) ... the 200 back swim was a career-best time ... preliminary swim of the 100 back (49.71) was a season-best time and was also the 10th-fastest 200 back time in Notre Dame history ... exits the Irish program as the third best performer in the 100 back and fifth best performer in the 200 back in school history ... set a personal-best time of 1:53.33 in the 200 IM against Cleveland State.
AS A JUNIOR:Specialized in the fly, back and individual medley events ... set season best times in three events at the BIG EAST Championships, placing sixth in the 100 back (49.38), seventh in the 200 back (1:48.22) and 11th in the 400 IM (3:59.01) ... the 100 back time was a personal-best time ... recorded two season best times against Michigan State, touching the pad in a time of 53.16 in the 100 fly and 1:54.36 in the 200 fly ... collected five top three times during the dual meet season including two in both the 200 fly and 200 back.
AS A SOPHOMORE: A dynamic performer for the Irish ... posted a 1:47.10 in the 200 Back at the BIG EAST Championships ... best 100 Back (52.64) time came during a dual meet against Pittsburgh, when he also clocked his fastest 100 Fly (52.71) performance ... went 1:50.72 in the 200 Fly at the league meet ... stroked at 1:55.51 rate in the 200 IM and 4:00.03 in the 400 IM at the Ohio State Invite.
AS A FRESHMAN: Demonstrated grit at the BIG EAST Championships by stepping up and punching in times during the final rounds that were all faster than his preliminary performances ... seized two ninth-place finishes and one 10th-place finish during the league meet in the 400 IM (3:57.70), 200 back (1:50.01) and 200 fly (1:50.15), respectively ... also finished the 400 IM in 4:05.21 at the Ohio State Invitational while clocking a 1:57.04 in the 200 IM ... swam the 100 fly (52.32) against Cleveland State, when he also posted his best time of the season in the 100 back (52.26) ... slashed Louisville with a 25.54 in the 50 back.
THE WILLS FILE: Qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials with his 200-meter long-course fly time of 2:03.80 ... entered college with a best time of 51.50 in the 100 back, which was almost 1.4 seconds off Doug Bauman's (then) school record ... four-time high school All-American ... state champion in each of his four seasons as a prep at Gilman (Md.) ... named team MVP during his last three years of training under head coach Ian Brooks ... son of Sisi and Chris Wills ... born Nov. 2, 1988, in Baltimore, Md. ... has two sisters, Molly and Grace ... avid Baltimore Ravens fan ... graduated from the College of Arts and Letters as a pre-professional studies major.
