Men's Swimming And Diving Drops Dual Meet With Northwestern To End Weekend Twinbill

EVANSTON, Ill. - Competing in its second dual meet in less than a 24-hour span, the University of Notre Dame men's swimming and diving team came up short in dual meet action against Northwestern on Saturday, 189-111, at Norris Aquatics Center. Irish sophomore John Lytle claimed a pair of wins to lead Notre Dame (3-6). Notre Dame returns home as they host the Shamrock Dual Meet Invitational Jan. 25-26 at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. 400 Medley Relay: Andrew MacKay, Sam Pendergrast, MacKenzie LeBlacnc, and Lytle powered their squad to a 3:23.20 finish, which was good for second place. 1,000 Free: Andrew Deters (9:31.31) and Chris Douville (9:37.70) finished second and fourth, respectively. 200 Free: After Northwestern took the first two spots Joshua Nosal (1:43.07) and Andrew Hoffman (1:44.18) were next in line at the finish. 100 Back: MacKay clocked in at 51.89 and a third-place finish, while Thomas Van Volkenburg also got in the scoring column for the visitors with a time of 53.92. 100 Breast: Pendergreast (57.28), Peter Koppel (1:00.93), and Eric Swenson (1:01.28) each got in on the action for Notre Dame to collect points. 200 Fly: A pair of Irish swimmers finished in the money ... Patrick Augustyn (1:56.75) and Connor Wills (1:57.39) were the top finishers for Notre Dame. 50 Free: The first of Lytle's two individual wins came in the event with a sub-21.00 time ... he finished in 20.85.
100 Free: Lytle's second win came with a time of 45.14 ... Andrew Hoffman (47.25) touched in with a fourth-place standing. 200 Back: Michael Sullivan (1:52.49) was second ... Douville checked in at fourth with a mark of 1:55.28. 200 Breast: Daniel Rave (2:05.13), Joe Raycroft (2:09.68), and Koppel (2:09.91) each finished behind the Wildcats' John Franklin. 500 Free: Nosal was third with a mark of 4:39.51 ... just behind him was Deters (4:41.85). 100 Fly: LeBlanc (52.14) and Augustyn (52.15) were fourth and fifth, respectively. 400 Individual Medley: Behind Peter Park were MacKay (4:04.92), Deters (4:05.06), and Sullivan (4:05.79). 400 Free Relay: A second-place tandem of Lytle, Hoffman, Nosal, and Van Volkenburg tag-teamed to a second-place finish in 3:04.16. 3-meter Diving: Michael Bulfin was victorious in the event for the second time in as many days ... he scored 390.98 points ... Nathan Geary (346.80) stepped up for a third-place finish ... Sam Stoner (338.78) was fourth. 1-meter Diving: Stoner (315.90) and Wesley Villaflor (304.80) staked the second and third spots ...
