Junior Andy Maggio just missed out on becoming the first Notre Dame men's swimmer or diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships after finishing fourth Saturday in the one-meter competition at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships. The top three finishers from each event qualify for the NCAA meet.

The native of Cincinnati, Ohio, finished with 315.95 points to place fourth. Third-place finisher and NCAA qualifier Timo Klami of Iowa was third with 321.10 points. Ohio State's Heath Knowling won his second event of the weekend, placing first with 337.55 points.

On Friday, Maggio placed eighth on the three-meter board with 477.70 points. Knowling was first with 547.35 points, followed by Iowa's Simon Chrisander (509.95) and Klami (492.95).
