NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Notre Dame men's swimming and diving squad dove into the 2011-12 season with a second place showing at the annual Dennis Stark Relays.  The Irish tallied 156 points on the evening, which was good enough for second place behind Michigan's 200 points.  TCU (146), Oakland (130) and Valparaiso (84) finished in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Irish started the night with a victory in the 200 free relay as Christopher Johnson, John McGinley, Frank Dyer and Kevin Overholt teamed for a 1:22.01 performance.  The Wolverines would go on to take ten of the next 11 races with Oakland winning the only other relay.

Records fell Friday night as all seven of the returning races saw their times lowered. Notre Dame lowered the 200 free relay to 1:22.01, down from Michigan's 1:22.49 in 2009. Michigan lowered all six other times.

Notre Dame will return to action tomorrow morning for a traditional meet with Michigan, Oakland and TCU.
