Men's Swim Team Drops First Dual Meet of Season to TCUHOUSTON, Texas- The University of Notre Dame men's swimming and diving team lost its first dual meet of the season as the Irish dropped a 139-123 decision to Texas Christian. The dual meet was held at Rice University. The Horned Frogs won 10 of 14 events as Notre Dame fell to 3-1 on the season. Junior Scott Zumbach was a double winner for the Irish as he won both the 200 yard butterfly (1:53.42) and 400 yard individual medley (4:04.98). Sophomore John Lubker and freshman James Scott-Browne each claimed first-place in an event. Lubker won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:47.74, while Scott-Browne was victorious in the 500 yard freestyle as he finished in 4:37.44. He also took second in the 200 yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:55.89. Junior Chris Fugate finished second in both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events with times of 53.41 and 1:55.36, respectively. The Irish return to action on Friday, November 21 at the Rolfs Aquatic Center when they host Air Force and West Virginia. |
