Notre Dame Men's Swimming Downs Western Kentucky 137-94

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. o Notre Dame's men's swimming and diving team avenged two previous defeats to Western Kentucky with a 137-94 win over the Hilltoppers on Saturday. Sophomore Herb Huesman set a school record in the one-meter diving and won both the one- and three-meter diving events to pace the Irish, who improved to 6-1 with the win.

Huesmen's record performance of 335.6 broke Sean Hyer's five-year-old record of 314.4. Junior Scott Zumbach won the 200 butterfly and the 200 IM to lead the Irish swimmers. Mike Doyle, Vince Kuna and Ron Royer swept the top three spots in the 50 freestyle, and James Scott-Browne, John Lubker and Grant Burral went one-two-three in the 1000 freestyle to help Notre Dame build a sizable lead.

Western Kentucky had beaten Notre Dame in each of the last two years, including a win in the final relay to clinch the meet in 1997.
