Notre Dame Men's Swimming and Diving Wins Seventh Straight

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Notre Dame's men's swimming and diving team won eight of the first nine events and coasted to its seventh-straight dual-meet win with a 167-102 win over visiting St. Bonaventure. The Irish improved to 10-1 with the win, their first 10-win season since winning 11 in 1993. Notre Dame swims its final dual meet of the year Saturday, February 14, against Wisconsin-Milwaukee when the Irish look to finish with their best record since going 12-1 in 1990.

Ray Fitzpatrick led the Irish with two wins in the 100 and 200 freestyle while diver Herb Huesman won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Other winners for Notre Dame were James Scott-Browne in the 1000 freestyle, Steele Whowell in the 100 breaststroke, Scott Zumbach in the 200 butterfly, Rob Fetter in the 50 freestyle, Dan Szilier in the 200 breaststroke and John Lubker in the 500 freestyle.
