Simme Captures No. 3 Singles Title
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- University of Notre Dame senior Ryan
Simme won the No. 3 singles title Sunday at the Ice Volleys
Tennis Showcase as he defeated Adam Selkirk of Minnesota by a
7-5, 6-2 score in the championship match. Sophomore teammate
Brian Patterson won the No. 4 flight championship, while Irish
freshman Matt Horsley won the No. 7 singles title.
Patterson defeated Ryan Bauer of Clemson in the final by a 6-2,
7-5 count, while Horsley defeated teammate Marco Magnano in his
final by a 6-4, 6-4 score.
In doubles, Simme and Danny Rothschild won the No. 2 title
defeating Luis Garcia and Ken Wasserman of Clemson by an 8-5
count. Notre Dame's Jakub Pietrowski and Patterson lost in the
No. 1 doubles final by an 8-6 score to Bruce Li and Rich Reyes
of Clemson.
