Former Puerto Rican Davis Cup player contributed to Irish success in final year of eligibility after transferring from Bowling Green State University in summer of 2002 after the Falcon men's tennis program was discontinued ... three-year letterwinner and two-time all-Mid-American Conference selection at BGSU ... was third Irish men's tennis monogram winner from Puerto Rico, joining Pedro Rossello and teammate Luis Haddock ... amassed 134 combined victories at Bowling Green to rank seventh in school history ... ranked sixth in career singles wins (69) and tied for ninth in doubles victories (65) ... finished career with 85 singles wins and 78 doubles victories (combined at Bowling Green and Notre Dame). AS A JUNIOR: A first-team All-MAC selection ... named BGSU’s Male Junior Scholar-Athlete of the Year ... also was named to the first team on the prestigious Arthur Ashe, Jr., Sports Scholars List ... was named MAC Player of the Week twice ... had a singles mark of 25-11, going 3-0 in the MAC and 2-0 in league tourney action ... in doubles, went 21-10, including an 11-4 mark when teaming with Vitek Wild ... that duo went 3-1 in conference regular-season play ... missed several matches while representing Puerto Rico in Davis Cup competition ... named the MAC Scholar- Athlete of the Week on March 19 ... total of 25 singles victories tied for the fourth-most in a season in school history ... 46 combined wins placed 10th on that BGSU list ... won a singles flight title at the BGSU/Keefe Invitational ... one of three Falcons to compete at the ITA regional. AS A SOPHOMORE: Named to the MAC Honor Roll ... had a 22-16 singles record, including a 3-1 MAC mark ... in doubles, was 21-10, including an 11-4 mark with Nick Moxley ... one of three Falcons to compete at the ITA Region IV Championship ... teamed with Geoff Hiscox to win the Flight A title at the BGSU/Keefe Invite ... was second at the top singles flight at Butler Invite, going 4-1. AS A FRESHMAN: The MAC’s Newcomer of the Year and an All-MAC Second-Team selection ... his total of 45 wins led the team and tied him for the fourth-highest single-season total in school history ... recorded a 22-13 singles mark, including a 15-5 record in the spring ... tied his brother, Micael, for the most singles wins on the team ... shared the team’s Most Improved Player award ... had a 23-8 doubles record, teaming with seven different players ... went 5-1 with Peter Gardonyi and 8-2 with Mike Kossoff ... had a MAC singles record of 5-1, competing mostly at the top-two flights ... went 5-1 at No. 1 doubles and 7-3 at the No. 2 flight in dual action ... one of three Falcons to compete at the ITA Region IV Meet ... was one-half of doubles flight champions at both BGSU/Keefe Invite and Butler Invite. IN NON-COLLEGIATE ACTION: Advanced to doubles final and singles semifinals in 2002 Puerto Rico National Men’s Tournament … in 2002 Christmas in July tournament, advanced to singles semifinals and captured doubles title with Luis Haddock … competed in qualifying draws of a pair of professional futures events in ‘02, losing to Haddock in the second round in Godfrey, Ill. and defaulting in the third round of the Decatur, Ill. event due to the Puerto Rican National tournament.
