COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 5 Notre Dame men's tennis team saw its 11-match winning streak come to an end Friday night as No. 3 Ohio State cruised past the Irish, 7-0. Notre Dame drops to 17-3 on the season, while the Buckeyes improve to 16-1. Ohio State extended its home winning streak to 47 matches. The win streak dates back to the 2003 season starting with a 5-2 victory over Purdue April 6. The lone highlight for the Irish came at No. 3 doubles. The tandem of senior Stephen Bass (Bronxville, NY) and junior Andrew Roth (Houston, TX) knocked off Steven Moneke and Bryan Koniecko, 9-7. The duo improved to 14-5 overall and 11-4 in dual matches. The Buckeyes were victorious at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to capture the doubles point. Ohio State rode that momentum and swept all six singles matches - five of which came in straight sets. Notre Dame returns to action Sunday afternoon with an equally difficult task. The Irish host No. 8 Illinois at 1:00 p.m. #3 OHIO STATE 7, #5 NOTRE DAME 0 Doubles
