NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The No. 31 University of Notre Dame won a pair of matches on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Eck Tennis Pavilion, as the Irish topped BIG EAST rival USF, 6-1, before sweeping in-state foe Butler, 7-0.

Honored Saturday were three Irish student-athletes, Michael Moore, Blas Moros and Spencer Talmadge, and a senior manager, Bianca Fox.

The Irish have won five matches in a row, which is a season high.

Notre Dame returns to action next weekend when it travels to No. 50 Louisville for a 2 p.m. Saturday match.

No. 31 Notre Dame 6, USF 1

The No. 31 ranked University of Notre Dame men's tennis team claimed a 6-1 victory over Big East opponent South Florida in a marathon match Saturday afternoon inside the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

The win improves the Irish to 14-7.

Notre Dame swept all three doubles contests to take an early 1-0 lead and then claimed victories at one, four and six singles to secure the win. With the match decided, the Irish won at two and three singles and lost at five.

No. 109 Greg Andrews notched the first singles point for the Irish with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over No. 124 ranked Oliver Pramming. Andrews improved his season record to 13-7 with the victory.

Billy Pecor claimed his tenth singles win of the season as he swept Federico Sabogal at four, 6-4, 6-2.

On a day where he was honored along with teammates Blas Moros and Spencer Talmadge, senior Michael Moore picked up a win on Senior Day, which sealed the overall team victory for the Irish. Moore delivered a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 sweep of Juan Carlos Acuna Gerard at six.

Quentin Monaghan claimed another singles victory and improved his season record to a 13-4 with a 7-5, 6-2 defeat of Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz on the No. 2 court.

Another Irish senior picked a win on Senior Day as Moros posted a 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 victory over Guillermo De Vilchez at three.

Claiming a win after a long back-and-forth battle in the second set, USF's Ravi Patel road the momentum into the match tie breaker and defeated Wyatt McCoy 5-7, 7-6 (10-8), 1-0 (10-2).

The day opened with doubles as Notre Dame's No. 3 pairing of Andrews and Matt Dooley jumped out to an initial 5-0 lead and cruised to a final 8-3 defeat of USF's De Vilchez and Dzib. Andrews and Dooley picked up their second straight win together and improve their season record to 2-0.

Talmadge and Ryan Bandy dominated the first five games of their doubles match and utilized their early lead to prevent a near comeback by Sabogal and Acuna Gerard in an 8-5 victory in favor of the Irish.

The No. 1 doubles pairing of Pecor and freshman Alex Lawson found themselves in a tight back-and-forth battle with the Bulls' No. 59 Pramming and Gonzalez-Muniz. After the match went to a 7-7 tie, Pecor and Lawson won the next two games to claim the 9-7 triumph over USF's ranked doubles pairing.
