BALTIMORE, Md. - Notre Dame sophomore women's tennis player and sixth-seed in the tournament Michelle Dasso won her opening round match at the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships in Baltimore, Md., the opening leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Collegiate Grand Slam. Dasso, ranked 17th in the preseason rankings, rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Clemson's Cecelia Hincapie. She will face Mississippi State's Amelie Detriviere in the second round.

Irish senior All-American Jennifer Hall dropped her first-round match to Mississippi's seventh-seed Ivona Mihailova 7-5, 6-4. Ranked 24th in the preseason rankings, Hall will take on Pepperdine's Ann Nguyen in the consolation draw on Friday.

In the men's bracket, Notre Dame junior All-American Ryan Sachire, seeded fourth in the draw, won his opening round match 7-6, 6-2 over Mississippi State's Vikrant Chada. In the second round, the eighth-ranked Sachire let a 5-1 lead slip away in the first-set tiebreaker and was eliminated 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 by South Carolina's 20th-ranked Guilaume Legat.
