Men's Tennis Concludes Charles Fluitt Collegiate Classic With Five More Wins
Oct. 1, 2000 LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Notre Dame men's tennis team capped a successful weekend at the Charles Fluitt Collegiate Classic at the University of Kentucky by winning four of five singles matches against Fresno State and splitting a pair of doubles matches with the Bulldogs. Junior Andrew Laflin and freshman Luis Haddock-Morales concluded 4-0 weekend in singles with wins on Sunday to join just three other players in the six-team event to finish with 4-0 records in singles. For the weekend, Notre Dame won 19 of 25 singles matches and 7 of 11 doubles matches. Haddock-Morales improved to 8-0 on the season in singles as he rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Nick Fustar. Laflin cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Alex Krohn. Junior Casey Smith beat Sean Cooper 2-6, 6-4, 6-5, while freshman Matt Scott won in his first appearance of the weekend, defeating Alex Menichini 3-6, 6-5, 6-5. In doubles, Haddock-Morales and Smith suffered their first loss of the season after seven wins in doubles in an 8-7 defeat to David Mullins and Cooper.
