WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - At the Boilermaker Classic at Purdue, the Irish lost four first-round matches. Sophomore Mark Overdevest lost 6-1, 6-1 to Purdue's Cade Lutz but beat Ball State's Rafael Domenech 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the consolation. Freshman James Malhame won his consolation match 6-2, 7-5 over Ball State's Scott Fisk. He dropped a close 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 match in the first round to Iowa's Jake Wilson. Sophomore Ashok Raju lost 6-2, 6-3 to Ball State's Nick Vizzone in the first round and 6-1, 6-0 to Iowa's Jason Dunn in the consolation.

In the B Flight singles, freshman Adrian Hidaka beat Ball State's Tom Gustowski 7-5, 6-0 in the first round but lost 6-1, 6-4 to Purdue's Laith Al-Agba in the second round. Sophomore Luke Warford won by default over Northwestern's Austin Brunkhorst but lost 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in the second round to Purdue's G.T. Cozad. Junior Ricky Buhrman was forced to retire in his first round match with Iowa's Ulf Jentler 6-2, 6-7, 4-3, ret.

In the A Flight doubles, Hidaka and Warford lost 8-2 to Domenech and Vizzone, and Malhame and Raju lost 8-5 to Al-Agba and Hays. Action concludes on Sunday at Purdue.
