In the final day of play at the 2008 Tom Fallon Invitational, the Notre Dame men's tennis team racked up five singles wins and three doubles triumphs. The Irish were led by Sean Tan (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood), Daniel Stahl (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Casey Watt (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland), who each had two wins on the day.

The tournament's final day commenced with a round of singles play. Watt defeated Alistair Felton of Harvard 6-3, 6-2. Stahl knocked off Eduardo Pavia of Ball State 6-2, 6-4 and Tan overcame Pablo Olivarez of Western Michigan 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6). Tyler Davis (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan) also had a win in singles play, as he knocked off Michael Muskievicz of Wisconsin 6-4, 6-3. The final Irish win in singles play came from freshman Niall Fitzgerald (Wicklow, Ireland/Blackrock College), who beat Ball State's Dave Thomas in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5).

In doubles play, Watt combined with Stephen Havens (Cincinnati, Ohio) to take out Calderone and Montasser of Western Michigan, 8-4. Tan teamed with David Anderson (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) against Western Michigan opposition as well, defeating Olivarez and Heyward, 9-8. Notre Dame's final victory at the Invitational came from the duo of Stahl and junior Patrick Callaghan (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West), as they defeated Norville and Hulewicz of Michigan State, 9-8 (5).

As a team the Irish had a strong tournament. Over the three-day event, Stahl amassed a perfect 7-0 record, including a 4-0 mark in singles play and a 3-0 record in doubles action. Davis also had a strong weekend, as he posted a 4-0 record in singles play.

The Irish return to action this week, as several players travel to Columbus, Ohio to take part in the ITA Midwest Regionals. The event, which begins on October 16, will take place at the Ohio State University Tennis Center.
