AUSTIN, Texas -- Notre Dame's top-seeded Ryan Sachire lost his second-round match 6-1, 6-1 to 67th-ranked Eduardo Gordilho of UL Lafayette in Friday's second round of the 1999 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men's All-American Championships, the second leg of the ITA grand slam, held at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center at the University of Texas. Sachire, the second ranked singles player in the preseason ITA rankings, suffered cramps during the third set of his three-win in the first round on Thursday and needed intravenous fluids after the match late Thursday. A finalist a year ago at the ITA All-American Championships, Sachire was not fully recovered from the IV in his 8:30 a.m. match on Friday.
