Duo Takes Doubles Title at Rolex Championship
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Notre Dame men's
tennis duo of Brian Patterson and Jakub Pietrowski won the
doubles titles at the Midwest Regional Rolex Championship on
Monday afternoon with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-2 win over Chris James and
Derek Myers of Purdue. Earlier in the day, Patterson and
Pietrowski won their semifinal match over Alex Witt and Martin
Bengtsson of Northwestern by a 9-8 score.
Pietrowski and Patterson were the No. 1 seed in the event
and now advanced to the Rolex National Tournament, which will
be held in Dallas in January. Notre Dame's top singles
performance in the event was a trip to the quarterfinals in the
field of 128 by sophomore Ryan Sachire.
