    Notre Dame Men's Tennis Team Defeats Ohio State 6-1

    Notre Dame, Ind. - The 23rd-ranked Notre Dame men's tennis team improved its record to 4-2 today as the Irish beat visiting Ohio State 6-1.

    All of Notre Dame's five singles victories were in straight sets. Ryan Sachire earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Scott Wiles at No. 1 singles. Brian Patterson was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Pari Laxminarayan at the third singles position. Dan Rothschild was impressive at No. 4 singles as he was a 6-2, 6-1 victor over Ben Basil. Eric Enloe, playing in the number five position, beat Vo Chu 6-4, 6-2, while Andy Warford earned a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.

    The only Irish player to lose his match was Jakub Pietrowski. After winning the first set 6-3, Pietrowski went on the lose the next two sets to Chris Porter, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

    Notre Dame won the doubles point with wins by all three teams. The number one doubles team of Pietrowski and Patterson beat Wiles and Basil 8-5. Rothschild and Vijay Freeman defeated Porter and Laxminarayan 8-6 at the number two spot, while Sachire and Matt Horsley were 8-2 winners over Bob Wellstein and Derek DeFalco at third doubles.

    The Irish return to action on Sunday, February 15 when they host Miami at 1:00 p.m.
