Tennis Has Mixed Results at Rolex Intercollegiate

DALLAS -- Notre Dame's men's and women's tennis teams had mixed results at the 1998 Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday. In the men's singles draw, Notre Dame sophomore Ryan Sachire fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to UCLA's Vince Allegre, the fourth of eight seeds in the 32-player draw, and now falls into the consolation bracket.

In the women's draw, Notre Dame junior Jennifer Hall advanced to the second round with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 win over Zsofia Csapo of Pepperdine. Hall will face second-seeded Agnes Muzamel of Mississippi, a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 winner over Katherine Nasser of Northwestern. Freshman Michelle Dasso dropped a tough three-set match to William & Mary's Lauren Nickolaus, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Dasso will now play in the consolation bracket.

The fourth-seeded Irish doubles team of Jakub Pietrowski and Brian Patterson will play their opening match against Pepperdine's Kelly Gullet and Robert Lindstedt on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
