Notre Dame Blanks Pennsylvania, 7-0
LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Notre Dame men's tennis team, ranked 23rd nationally, improved its record
to 9-2 on the season with a 7-0 win over Pennsylvania in a match played at the La Jolla Beach and
Tennis Club in La Jolla, Calif.
Ryan Sachire and Jakub Pietrowski, playing No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, were straight
set winners. Sachire defeated Marc Fisicaro 6-2, 6-0, while Pietrowski earned a 6-0, 6-0 decision
over Mike Klatsky. Eric Enloe, playing in the number five singles spot, won the first set 6-2
before Jordan Szekely retired with Enloe leading 5-0 in the second set.
Three of Notre Dame's singles players produced three-set victories. Brian Patterson, playing at
No. 3, dropped the first set 6-4 to Joey Zupan, but came back to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-4.
Dan Rochschild registered a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win at the fourth singles position over Erik Sobotka
and Andy Warford defeated David Schwartzman 7-6, 4-6, 6-1.
Notre Dame earned the doubles point as all three doubles teams were victorious.
