Senior Billy Pecor

March 27, 2014

NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- It has been almost a month since the University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team played at match on the courts of the Eck Tennis Pavilion. But after four away matches, the Irish are finally coming home this weekend.

Notre Dame is 3-1 in ACC play, having taken down Virginia Tech, Clemson and Georgia Tech and losing only to Virginia, which was ranked No. 1 in the country at the time. This weekend presents the next hurdle in Notre Dame’s new conference—matches against No. 14 Duke and No. 8 North Carolina.

Duke is 10-5 on the season, with a notable wins over Illinois and North Carolina and losses to Virginia and Kentucky. UNC is 16-3 on the season, having only lost to Duke, Virginia and Ohio State. Both teams will surely prove to be tough opponents for the Irish, who are coming off strong wins at Clemson and Georgia Tech.

The match against Duke gets started at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, Mar. 28 at the Eck. Action against North Carolina will begin Sunday at 1 p.m.
