NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame men's tennis player Greg Andrews has earned an at-large bid into the 2013 NCAA Singles Championships for the second year in a row, it was announced Wednesday.

Andrews will head to Champaign, Ill., and the University of Illinois for the first round that is slated for May 22. The finals are set for May 27.

Andrews, who went 17-7 at the No. 1 spot this spring season, was named the BIG EAST Player of the Year just days after leading the Irish to their ninth BIG EAST title and earning tournament most outstanding player honors.

The appearance will be the second in a row for the Richland, Mich., native, who fell in the first round last year to Mississippi's Jonas Lutjen, 7-5, 6-3.

This is the seventh consecutive year that the Irish have had at least one player selected to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship.

Sixty-four singles players are selected for the NCAA Championships. The full list of singles and doubles players can be found at www.ncaa.com.

Automatic qualification in the singles championship was awarded to any conference with one or more eligible singles players ranked in the ITA Top 125 for eligible/entered singles players. All singles players must have recorded a minimum of 13 completed singles matches in order to be selected as an automatic qualifier or an at-large selection.

Before the singles tournament begins, the Irish will compete in the NCAA Team Championship, beginning May 10 as Notre Dame heads to Ohio State for first- and second-round matches in Columbus, Ohio. The fifth-seeded Buckeyes play host and face Cleveland State with the No. 31 Irish taking on No. 33 Washington in their first round tilt.
