ATHENS, Ga. -- Notre Dame men's tennis sophomores Javier Taborga and Aaron Talarico fell to the No. 5-8 seed and 16th-ranked team of Toby Hansson and Jon Wallmark of SMU 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA doubles championship in Athens, Ga.
The 29th-ranked Irish pair were making their first appearance in the NCAA doubles championship as the second-youngest duo in the 32-team field. Taborga and Talarico wrap up their season with a 17-9 record and an 8-4 mark against ranked opponents.
