NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- Following the Notre Dame men’s tennis team’s first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Irish players seniors Greg Andrews and Ryan Bandy and sophomore Quentin Monaghan have been named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Men’s Tennis Team.

“Congratulations to Greg, Ryan and Quentin on receiving this distinction,” says head coach Ryan Sachire. “Being a member of the All-ACC Academic Team is a fantastic honor, and it is simply more recognition of the great work that these three guys did this past year."

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Eleven ACC schools are represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team, led by Virginia Tech with four honorees. Duke, Notre Dame and Virginia had three representatives each, while Clemson, Florida State and Miami had two members apiece. Boston College, North Carolina, NC State, and Wake Forest rounded out the field with one each.

Andrews graduated from the Mendoza College of Business with a major in accounting this spring while serving as captain of the squad and playing No. 1 singles and doubles. Next year, he will be back at Mendoza working toward his Masters of Science in Accountancy.

Bandy also graduated from the Mendoza College of Business this spring with a major in management consulting. He served as a crucial link in the lineup this spring at No. 2 singles, and he has already begun his career at PNC National Bank in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Monaghan also majors in management consulting in Mendoza. He consistently played at No. 3 singles this spring, and it was his victory of Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss that clinched Notre Dame’s advancement to the NCAA Sweet 16.
