Former Irish track and cross country standout Chuck Aragon '81 began his three-year term on the Monogram Club Board of Directors in April 2008. Currently an anesthesiologist in Billings, Montana, Aragon was the first Notre Dame runner to crack the four-minute mile barrier with a 3:59.9 performance in 1981 during a meet in Champaign, Ill. During his career with the Irish, he captained both the track and cross country teams, finished fifth in the 1,500-meters at the 1981 NCAA Outdoor Championships and helped the two-mile indoor relay team place sixth at the 1979 NCAA Indoor Championships. Aragon, who received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1987, was the bronze medalist in the 1,500-meters at the Pan American Games and placed fourth in the 1984 Olympic Trials.
