John Leahy - the senior football manager for Notre Dame's 1958 football team - has been involved with the Monogram Club board since 1995, first serving a three-year term on the board of directors before taking on an advisory role since 1998. One of his primary assignments has involved working with John Dowd to re-establish the Monogram Club representative program for alumni clubs around the nation.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Notre Dame in 1959, Leahy served two years in the U.S. Navy before returning to his alma mater in 1961. He graduated from the Notre Dame Law School in 1964 and served as an attorney for 10 years, during which time he also was mayor of Carson City, Calif. ('70-'72). He went on to compile a 24-year tenure ('74-'98) as a judge in the Los Angeles Superior Court, also serving as a captain in the U.S. Navel Reserve and as the Monogram Club's representative for the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Los Angeles.

The oldest of Harry and Elinor Leahy's five children, he was born Feb. 17, 1937, in Evanston, Ill., and was editor of his high school paper at Loyola Academy in Chicago (now located in Wilmette, Ill.). Leahy married the former Sheila Martin in 1990 and he is the stepfather to her five children.
