NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Notre Dame Monogram Club is pleased to announce that Marc Edwards (’97, football), T.J. Mathieson (’04, hockey), Carol Ann Michel (’11, rowing) and Jessica Roman (’92, cheerleading) have joined the organization’s board of directors to serve three-year terms through 2017. The class of directors was unanimously approved by the Monogram Club membership at An Evening With The Monogram Club (the organization’s Annual Mass, Meeting and Dinner) on April 12.
Marc Edwards (’97, football) – Director, 2014-17
Edwards is currently a telemetry consultant, working with forklift dealers around the country to help install, implement, and manage systems that monitor material handling fleets. Previously, Edwards was a product manager with Speedshield and brokerage manager at Independent Marketing Group.
Edwards earned his bachelor’s degree in business management in 1997, and was a second round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 1997 NFL Draft.
He spent nine seasons in the NFL with the 49ers, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, and was a member of the Super Bowl XXXVI champion Patriots in 2002.
While at Notre Dame, Edwards was a four-time Monogram winner, two-year starter at fullback, and captain during his senior season under head coach Lou Holtz.
Marc and his wife, Darsi, have four children: Taya, Ella, Livi, and Xander, and live in Jacksonville, Fla.
T.J. Mathieson (’04, hockey) – Director, 2014-17
Mathieson currently works with Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, where he serves as Chief Engineer and Deputy Project Manager. Since joining Northrop Grumman in 2004, Mathieson has assumed a number of roles and responsibilities, including a two-year stint in Australia, where he worked primarily as a responsible systems engineer.
In 2013, Mathieson was presented with Northrop Grumman’s Innovation of the Year Award, for technical achievements on complex space systems.
While continuing his engineering work, Mathieson joined the U.S. National Track Cycling Program in 2010, and competed in multiple U.S. National Championships, Pan-American Championships, and on the UCI World Cup Circuit. He was selected to the 2012 U.S. Cycling Olympic Long Team, and earned a national title in 2012 in the team sprint event.
While at Notre Dame, Mathieson was a three-year Monogram winner as a defenseman on the Irish hockey team, including the 2004 squad, which reached the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history. Mathieson was a three-time recipient of the Knute Rockne Scholar-Athlete Award, and graduated summa cum laude in 2004 with a degree in aerospace engineering. He received honorable mention CCHA All-Academic Team in 2004, and earned Dean’s List recognition in every semester at Notre Dame.
In 2008, Mathieson earned a master’s degree in astronautical engineering from the University of Southern California.
T.J. and his wife, Michelle (’04), have a son, Jack, and live in Redondo Beach, Calif.
Carol Ann Michel (’11, rowing) – Director, 2014-17
Michel is an M.B.A. candidate in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, and will graduate in May 2015. She is concentrating her studies in entrepreneurship.
Additionally, she is Vice President of the MBA Women in Business Organization and a Forte Fellow. Michel also serves as a volunteer coach for the Notre Dame women’s rowing team.
Prior to returning to Notre Dame, Michel was a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch in New York City. Her work focused on helping to improve the performance of the firm’s financial advisors. While at Merrill Lynch, Michel was one of the youngest employees promoted to the officer level.
While an undergraduate at Notre Dame, Michel earned four Monogram awards in rowing under head coach Martin Stone. The team won the BIG EAST title all four years that Michel rowed. As a senior, she served as a captain and earned first team all-BIG EAST honors.
Carol Ann graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in finance in 2011.
Jessica Roman (’92, cheerleading) – Director, 2014-17
Roman has taught high school mathematics for over 20 years - at University Liggett School from 1992-1995, and at Grosse Pointe North High School since 1995.
In 2001, she founded WILLOW (Women In Leadership Leading Our World), a mentoring and leadership program for girls at Grosse Pointe North that remains a strong influence on developing leadership capacities in teenage girls. She has been actively involved with the Notre Dame Women Connect Group, and represented Notre Dame at the annual college fair for Grosse Pointe Schools for thirteen years.
Roman was valedictorian of her high school, and graduated magna cum laude from Notre Dame in 1992 with a degree in honors mathematics.
She was a three-year member and senior captain of the Notre Dame cheerleading squad, and organized and executed program reunions in 2001, 2006, 2010, and 2014. She has a master's degree in instructional technology.
Jessica and her husband, Joe, have three children: Rocco (born 2005), Xavier (born 2008), and Ravella (born 2012), and live in Clinton Township, Mich.
