Alex Kerschner and Katie Uhler Receive Monogram Club Postgraduate Scholarship

May 10, 2018

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- For the 10th straight year the Monogram Club has issued a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship to one male and one female graduating student-athlete/support staff member and this year's recipients are Alex Kerschner ('18, baseball) and Katie Uhler ('18, soccer).

The announcement was made May 3 during Notre Dame's 17th annual O.S.C.A.R.S. (Outstanding Student-Athletes Celebrating Achievement & Recognition Showcase) gala, which was held inside Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.

The Monogram Club Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and potential for success in postgraduate study. Since the scholarship's inception, the Club has issued $100,000 to 20 recipients, including individuals who have attended medical school, law school or obtained their MBA. The scholarships are made possible because of annual Monogram Club member contributions.

Kerschner and Uhler are the first recipients of the Monogram Club Postgraduate Scholarship from baseball and women's soccer.

-- Alex Kerschner during his acceptance speech at the O.S.C.A.R.S.

"Kersh first and foremost is a terrific human being. He is a great teammate, he is a great person, and he is in my opinion a great example of everything good about a student-athlete at Notre Dame. He has achieved at an incredibly high level in the classroom and after working hard, being patient, and earning his opportunity, has taken advantage of it in a big way and is having a great senior year. From the club team to a walk-on, to a middle-of-the-order hitter in the ACC, what a great story and what a great testament to hard work, determination, and selflessness."
-- Mik Aoki, Notre Dame Head Baseball Coach
