Jewell Loyd Earns MVP Honors At 2014-15 University of Notre Dame Women's Basketball Awards Banquet

Fighting Irish celebrate 36-3 season that included fourth NCAA championship game berth in five years and second consecutive ACC title.

Popular walk-on guard whose determination and basketball savvy on the court are matched only by her leadership skills and academic prowess off the floor ... a solid ballhandler who also has displayed an effective three-point shot ... often serves as a mentor to younger players, helping them become acclimated to the college game ... unselfish player who has devoted her career to helping team improve as a whole.

Junior Season: Played in 15 games (one start), averaging 1.0 ppg. and 0.5 rpg. ... made first appearance of year against Army, matching her career high with five points in seven minutes ... played six minutes against DePaul ... logged two points and career-high two assists in season-high nine minutes against Seton Hall ... picked up three points (3-4 FT) and two rebounds vs. Syracuse ... earned first career start at Seton Hall, grabbing two rebounds ... canned short jumper for her only points in win over St. John's ... connected on three-point field goal in NCAA tourmament second round game at Tennessee.

Sophomore Season: Played a career-high 11 minutes against Fordham ... scored four points in that game coupled with a career-high three rebounds ... scored three points on three free throws vs. Miami ...saw seven minutes vs. Georgetown in BIG EAST quarterfinals, making a pair of free throws in that game ... appeared in 23 games, including three of Notre Dame's six NCAA tournament games ... scored four points against Alcorn State in the first round of the NCAA tournament ... scored two points against Michigan in second round of NCAA tournament.

Freshman Season: Appeared in 23 games ... played season-high six minutes against Georgetown and Providence ... recorded first career basket against USC ... scored first career three-pointer against Valparaiso ... scored three points in NCAA tournament game versus San Diego and two points against George Washington.

High School: Four-year letterwinner and starter at Westlake High School ... also earned four letters in softball and three in volleyball ... named basketball MVP of Southwestern Conference as a senior as she set the league mark for most steals in a season ... led team in points (317), rebounds (124) and steals (45) ... was a two-time first-team all-SWC honoree ... earned all-district honors as a junior and senior ... led her National Title Girls AAU team in scoring in 1998 and helped her team qualify for the Nationals in July 1999 ... played in the Northeast Ohio All-Star Game in both basketball and volleyball served as a captain for the volleyball and softball teams ... set school records in volleyball for digs and kills in a game.

Personal Data: Born Jan. 22, 1981 ... father Bob is a 1974 Notre Dame graduate ... sister Julie graduated from Notre Dame in May 2000 ... enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business ... owns 3.52 cumulative grade-point average as she works towards her bachelor's degree in entrepreneurship ... has earned Dean's List recognition four times ... also a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team honoree ... as part of a class project in fall 2001, she helped raise nearly $7,000 for the World Trade Center Public School Relief Fund by selling a calendar that featured photos of her teammates ... she is the 10th Irish player to wear No. 11, making it the most popular number in school history ... some former Notre Dame players who wore No. 11 include Sara Liebscher and Jeannine Augustin.
