SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Danielle Green scored a career-high 28 points and Sheila McMillen added 26 as Notre Dame beat West Virginia 111-90 Thursday night.

The 111 points by Notre Dame were two shy of the school scoring record.

The taller, quicker, more physical Irish dominated the inside and led 53-37 at the half. Notre Dame (11-2, 3-2 Big East) then opened the second half with consecutive 3-pointers by McMillen and led by as many as 27.

West Virginia (5-8, 1-5) used a 21-7 run in the final seven minutes to make it respectable but never seriously threatened.

Notre Dame pounded the ball inside to 6-foot-5 Ruth Riley, who finished with 23 points, while Green relied on her quickness for 21 first-half points.

An early 13-4 run in the first half put Notre Dame up 27-13, and the lead never dipped below double digits.

The game turned into a free-throw shooting match toward the end of both halves. Notre Dame outshot West Virginia at the line, hitting 31-of-39 compared to 20-of-34 for the Mountaineers.

The teams combined for 54 fouls and 38 turnovers.

Christie Lambert scored 19 points for the Mountaineers, who were outrebounded 46-28. Maria Tchobanova added 16 for West Virginia.
