Head Coach Muffet McGraw

On the first half...
"They hit some threes on us, played a little more man to man, and took away the three point line, but then they beat us inside."

On the second half and UConn's control of the boards...
"In the second half they really went inside and we just seemed like we couldn't get a defensive rebound. They really controlled the boards. They had 17 offensive rebounds - that's been our Achilles' heel all year and it is something that we have to get better at."

On the play of her veterans...
"When we have a game like this we expect our veteran players to step up and play well, and they didn't do that today. We have a lot of work to do."

Senior Forward Teresa Borton

On the outcome of the game...
"I was pretty surprised, because I thought we would give them a little more competition."

On the difference between the first and second halves...
"Rebounding was the difference in the second half. They got a bunch of second chance shots."

Sophomore Forward Crystal Erwin

On Notre Dame's second half let-down...
"I agree that rebounding was the problem in the second half. We also didn't play with nearly as much energy."

Head Coach Geno Auriemma

On getting in the lane...
" Notre Dame does a good job keeping the lane occupied on both ends of the floor. It was hard to work through that, but we're a little quicker than they were on the inside. The difference in the second half was that Charde Houston was able to get a lot done in the lane. If you're going to beat Notre Dame, you've got to win in the lane."

On the significance of the win...
"This win was incredibly important. At some point, we needed to win a game like this so our team could be reminded of who we are. This win reaffirms for them that we're going to take our shots, but we're still Connecticut and we can still summon up what we need to summon up to win games."

On the difference in the game...
"Even though we didn't shoot the ball great, I think some of the hustle plays and the quickness were the difference. Mel gave us a huge spark, coming off the bench and making a couple of threes. We needed that, because lately Ann has been carrying that load herself."

Senior forward Ashley Battle

On Connecticut's defensive play...
"Our defense was better in the second half. We buckled down and made shots when we needed to. It was a group effort on Batteast tonight. It was a good idea to put Ann on her because it's hard to shoot over her. Ann did an excellent job on her tonight, keeping her off the boards."

On the team's emotions...
"We tried to keep our composure as much as possible and not let our emotions get the best of us. It was the first time this season where we really played like we could play."
