Quoting Notre Dame Player Skylar Diggins
On being a team leader:
"I was more vocal as a leader in today's game. I made sure as a team we executed the offense and communicated with one another because of the different line up. During each huddle my teammates looked toward me and I decided to take on the role as best I could by giving more direction. It is important to constantly communicate with your teammates to make them feel most comfortable. After a few games I feel more confident with stepping in as the team leader. As a team in the Big East, everyone is responsible for stepping up because it is the toughest conference in the league. My teammates and coaches have helped me become a better leader and step up just like other teams in our conference."
On the highlights of today's game:
"We started the game out well, and we learned from our last game with Louisville that a strong lead in the beginning is most important. In the first half, as a team, we played our best basketball so far. Our rotations were good, we had a strong defense, and we did well with blocking out Pitt from scoring easy shots. We held a strong defense especially against Chelsea Cole who does well in scoring rebounds. We made strong transitions, made key baskets, and important blocks within the first half."
"As a team we were in our element with making the transitions needed to take the lead early on. Coach constantly preaches the importance of transitions and as a team we pride ourselves on this key factor. Our wings did a good job with finding open spots and clearing the space needed for me as a point guard to make the necessary shots. The posts ran the court well and the guards did well with attacking their opponents, which worked to our advantage."

On Notre Dame's win:
"The most important thing for us in this game was blocking and rebounding. We did a lot of boxing out, and had a little fire beneath us by being warned that if we missed any box outs then we would be running at practice. The posts really took that to heart and made sure to box out more and get a body on somebody even if that means you're not getting the rebound."
"Pitt is a very physical team, and they are use to running straight to the rim. The key is to hit their players before they get there and push them back early so they don't have the chance to score. The Pitt girls are very athletic and use to jumping right over their opponents. The idea of boxing out made it a lot easier for our team to get rebounds. In this case, Pitt's athleticism does not over power us when scoring the rebounds."
On Skylar as a team leader:
"Skylar really took control of things even with the little stuff by calling out the different plays and getting each player to the right spots. Coach talked to her a lot about how it is not only the player's responsibility when they mess up but it is Skylar's problem too as the point guard. She really took responsibility and made sure to give the team direction throughout each play. When Skylar attacks then everyone will collapse on her and that is how I score all my points. She is a great leader and I contribute my 14 points made to her."

On playing in her hometown:
"It was awesome to have so many fans here supporting us especially with being from Pittsburgh. My hometown is not far away, and I am grateful to those who came to cheer for us. I was nervous at times, but those who were here from my hometown have seen me air ball many shots so I think all my nerves settled a bit throughout the game. It is great to play in front of my supporters, and many of them are the reason why I am sitting here today. Veronica Badway and I talked about how some of the fans here today have helped us in some way, and it is a feeling you cannot describe in words to see them support us."
