Head Coach Muffet McGraw

On Notre Dame's overall performance against St. John's...
"I really expected us to play better defensively after the work we did and I'm truly disappointed in our inability to guard St. John's and to rebound. We really are a much better team than we showed by the way we played tonight and I think St. John's played a tremendous game. They didn't quit, they were down by 10 points and they just clawed back. Their defense was good and they played hard. We weren't physical enough with them. They pushed us around and we didn't push back. We couldn't even guard them inside. It was a great effort on their part. We're giving up too many points. We need some practice time. I'm looking forward to that."

On losing the lead...
"Turnovers. You'll see us throw the ball to them. You'll see us take a quick shot that ends up in a 3 on 1 break. You'll see us doing that to ourselves most of the time. We really had a big lead and so many careless passes. Credit (Lindsay) Schrader for giving us the lead back. We made some huge plays down the stretch to win the game, which was really important for us to do after losing the lead and hanging our heads. Making free throws was also critical at the end."

On being able to get the win without achieving the team's full potential...
"I think we're a pretty good team. We've had a number of games where we've played poorly and won. Being able to do enough good things to win the game shows promise. I'd like to win by more and feel good about the way we played, and no one (feels good) in the locker room right now."

Ashley Barlow, Jr., G

On coming back from behind to win...
"We had some deflections on the press and then got back into the game. Getting steals, forcing turnovers, and making layups is what brought us back. Lindsay Schrader had some big shots. We kept on pushing."

Erica Solomon, Fr., F

On her play down the stretch...
"We had to stop them, we knew we had to keep fighting. I had to find my man, box her out, and fight for the rebound."

Melissa Lechlitner, Jr., G

On what this win means for Notre Dame...
"I think this win shows the fight in our team. We were down 5 or 6 towards the end of the game and then got some big steals. It starts on the defensive end for us. When we get some steals and get some easy buckets in transition, that's definitely going to help us. We had players step up towards the end, which helped us."

St. John's Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico

On the game...
"I thought it was a great basketball game. They are a great basketball team and a great program. I am sorry we came out on the short end but they did a heck of a job down the end and made plays. It was a great game. I was proud of our effort to come in here and represent our program the way that we did."

On the difference in the game...
"In the first half, we won every four minute spurt except the first and the last. They outscored us in those two, which made the difference. When they made us go to the half court they made all of our shots a little more difficult."

Monique McLean, Sr., G

On her play...
"They lost me in transition and I got a few open threes. I think I picked up the intensity when I realized we could play with them."
