Notre Dame Head Coach Muffet McGraw

Opening Remarks...
"I think we're making progress. I look at this game and after playing Tennessee and I think we've come a long way defensively. Even though we gave up a lot of points, they're a very difficult team to guard. I thought we did some really good things, I know we held them scoreless for a while in the first half and I think we can really take this and grow from it a little bit. I think that we did a pretty decent job on the boards. We out-rebounded them and I think that's the first time anybody's out-rebounded them all year. I think we have great potential."

On post-game emotions...
"I think we had some goals that we wanted to accomplish, and we really are disappointed more than anything right now because of the way we shot the ball. Their defense was outstanding, but we also missed some shots that we normally make. We had opportunities. There was a point in the game where it was a ten-point game, and Ashley (Barlow) drove in, and they didn't call a foul and she didn't hit a shot, and they came back and hit a three. That play really affected the morale of the team. We lost it for a few minutes there and that's something that we need to learn - to weather that storm a little bit better."

On playing in big games...
"I didn't really know [how we were going to come out]. I felt really good before the Tennessee game, we had had a really good practice and things were going well and that didn't turn out as well as we wanted. I think now it's just experience. You play enough big games and you finally feel comfortable playing in them."

Sophomore Guard Ashley Barlow

On the momentum changing foul that was not called...
"That really did kill the momentum for us. I remember the play, but don't really remember if it was a foul or not."

Senior Guard Charel Allen

On playing Connecticut and other big games...
"Like coach said, we just wanted to come out and play our best. We've been working on our defense and we did a better job on defense tonight."

On playing the #1 team in the country and being tied at the second TV timeout...
"We just wanted to keep that going and we wanted to get our fans into because we feed off our fans a lot. They've really helped us a lot this year."

On scoring problem...
"Their defense was great, and I felt like rushed a lot of the shots I took. A lot of them I just didn't hit."

On playing Connecticut, Maryland, and Tennessee...
"They are all great teams. UConn, they have so many weapons. They have inside presence with Tina Charles and they've got some outside players too."

Freshman Forward Devereaux Peters

On her first career double-double...
"Well it's alright. I didn't even know until two seconds before we walked in here. I didn't really feel like I was having that great of a game while I was out there. I still have to work on my fouls because I feel like that's really hurting our team."

Connecticut Head Coach Geno Auriemma

On the tempo of the game...
"We tried to slow the game down in the second half. It was ironic that we scored more in transition in the second half but were able to slow down the tempo of the game. The first half was chaotic. At the start it was Charel (Allen) and Maya (Moore) one-on-one."

Freshman Forward Maya Moore

On how she felt about her scoring at the beginning of the game...
"I think I picked up fouls quicker than those first few points. I started out pretty hot and I just wanted to be aggressive and the shots were falling."

On her scoring drought after the first few minutes...
"That shouldn't happen. I think I should find other ways to score when they are throwing those different types of defenses at me. I have to find other ways to be productive offensively like crashing the boards for offensive rebounds."

On the momentum swing in the second half when Notre Dame missed a chance to cut the lead to ten points and UConn came down and hit a three-pointer...
"That was huge. There was a stretch where we weren't getting anything offensively and then she just knocked in that three and they had to call a timeout. The momentum completely went to our side after that and we just kept pushing the lead up."

Sophomore Center Tina Charles

On her post play...
"Coach (Geno Auriemme) always tells the post players to be aggressive in the lane and dominate as much as you can and that's what I did."

Senior Guard Ketia Swanier

On Tina Charles' play...
"Tina posted up really well tonight and I felt like she was open most of the time. We were feeding her the ball and she was making her shots."
