MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Sheila McMillen scored 25 points, and ninth-ranked
Notre Dame led virtually all the way in an 89-54 victory Saturday over West
Virginia.
Notre Dame (22-3, 14-3 Big East) never trailed after a McMillen 3-pointer
2:33 into the game gave the Irish an 8-7 lead.
McMillen hit five 3-pointers to give her 205 for her career, tying her with
Beth Morgan for the most ever at Notre Dame. Morgan played from 1993-97.
The Irish hit 57 percent of their first-half shots for a 47-34 halftime
lead.
West Virginia, which made just 30 percent of its shots in the contest,
missed nine of its first 10 in the second half as Notre Dame took command. A
pair of McMillen free throws gave the Irish a 63-36 lead with 11:34 left.
Notre Dame outrebounded West Virginia 50-23 despite not having leading
scorer and rebounder Ruth Riley for most of the game. She played just five
minutes because of foul trouble and a sore back, and finished with three points
and one rebound.
Reserve Ericka Haney added 14 points for Notre Dame. Danielle Green had 12
points and 13 rebounds, and Kelley Siemon had 11 points.
Rebecca Burbridge and Maria Tchobanova scored 13 points apiece to lead West
Virginia (10-15, 5-12), which has lost three straight.
Notre Dame has won 12 of 13 contests.
