FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Angie Gorton scored 13 of her 14 points in the second half and Elizabeth English added four 3-pointers to lead No. 20 Colorado State to a 72-66 victory over No. 15 Notre Dame on Wednesday night.

Gorton was 5-for-9 from the field in the second half. English was 4-for-8 on 3-pointers for Colorado State (2-0), which hurt Notre Dame (1-1) from the outside with seven 3-pointers.

Alicia Ratay led defending national champion Notre Dame with 16 points. LeTania Severe had 15 points and Jacqueline Batteast had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Notre Dame, which had won six consecutive games against nonconference ranked opponents.

Gorton took control for a 7-minute stretch in the second half after Batteast had cut Colorado State's lead to 55-50. Jasai Ferrucho converted a free throw and Gorton scored on two layups off her own steals to put Colorado State ahead 59-50 with 9:40 left.

Severe got Notre Dame as close as 69-66 with a layup, but missed a free throw with 36 seconds left. English sealed the victory with a free throw with 29 seconds remaining.
