Post-game Quotes

Notre Dame Players

Skylar Diggins • Sophomore • Guard
On the mentality in a game when the score is so lopsided...
"We really want to execute and run the offense through while making sure we keep the intensity up on defense. Basically, just sticking to our game plan and continue to make sure we pay attention to the details."

On Devereaux Peters' recent surge...
"Devereaux has just come alive as of late. This is pretty much her first full year and I think that fact is bringing her excitement to the court. She has great hands down low and does a great job of keeping up the intensity, which allows her to rebound with the best of them. As a guard, you love to have a big like that. She plays with so much emotion which is then passed on to the rest of the team."

Devereaux Peters • Senior • Center
On today's game...
"I think Seattle was kind of a confidence booster for me. Today, our goal was to just keep up the intensity, which everyone did a great job of doing. The guards did a great job of finding the open looks as well."

On Notre Dame's improved play...
"I think the big test for us was Gonzaga because they are such a good team. The team has really grown up lately, particularly in the Gonzaga game. Earlier in the year against teams like UCLA and Kentucky we struggled with closing out games whereas against Gonzaga we were able to finish it the way that we wanted."

Notre Dame Head Coach Muffet McGraw

Opening Statements...
"I am so pleased with how this team comes out, game after game, with so much intensity and a willingness to play. It's very impressive how they really take nobody lightly. I thought that we did a lot of things well today."

On continuing to play hard regardless of the score...
"It speaks to the growing maturity of this group. They never let each other down and they truly come out every day and play hard for one another. They are incredibly unselfish and continue to work hard defensively. They strive to be better. We did a great job of taking our time on each possession in order to find the open shot."

On heading into Marquette...
"We are shooting the ball very well, which is very encouraging. Our field goal percentage is pretty good, but it's because we have a lot of people that can score as well as a ton of confidence in our offense. I think that we can score a lot of points. There are certainly things to get better at, but I feel as though we continue to improve every game."

On Devereaux Peters...
"She had a great week out in Seattle and continued that today. She makes such a difference for our team and it shows. She plays defense, she rebounds, and the guards love throwing her the ball. She has the potential to be unstoppable on both ends. As of late, she has been figuring out her role, particularly on the offensive end, and it is helping our team. She's beginning to find new ways to score and has been shooting the ball from the free throw exceptionally. She truly makes a big difference when she is in the game."

SE Missouri State Head Coach John Ishee

Opening Statement...
"Obviously Notre Dame has a very good basketball program. They have won a national title, been to the final four and play in one of the top conferences in the country. My biggest disappointment is that my team did not compete, that we were defeated before we even took the floor. I do not think they (Notre Dame) is that much faster than us but (they are) much bigger and stronger than us."

On first timeouts...
"The first timeout I called I wanted to tell my team to compete and not be intimidated; not to cave into pressure, crowd noise and the skill level of the opponent. That if we let all this get to us early this will get worse throughout the game."

On the difficulty to score...
"Their length made it very difficult. They had speed and size to contests shots and also take away dribble penetration. We got decent looks. We have some good shooters but we did not hit shots. I am more upset at the defensive end of the floor than the offensive end of the floor."
