NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Notre Dame freshman Alicia Ratay (Lake Zurich, Ill.) has been selected the BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the Week as she led the Irish to a pair of wins last week. Ratay, who earns the league honor for the third time this season as she averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in wins over West Virginia and Georgetown.
The 5-11 guard, who leads the team in scoring and is second in rebounding, averaging 15.8 points and 5.0 rebounds, scored 23 points against the Hoyas in an 82-60 win which marked the third time this season she has scored 20-plus points in a contest. She was eight-of-14 from the field in the game, and hit four-of-six from three-point range. Ratay also had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 74-54 victory over West Virginia.
Ratay, who shot .571 (12-21) in the two games, has connected on 50.7 percent of her shots (68-134) this season and is 34-66 (.515) from three-point range. She has started all 13 games this season and has been the team's leading scorer in seven of those contests.
