FALL OF 2000:
Rowed as part of the second lightweight four placing fifth at the Head of the Elk ... competed with the first varsity four boat at the Head of the Grand finishing fourth ... won a silver medal at the Head of the Rock after placing second in the lightweight eight race ... won a gold medal in first varsity race as a member of the lightweight eight at the Chicago Chase.
AS A FRESHMAN:
Rowed as a member of the novice roster in 1999-2000 ... competed in the second novice four boat against Drake ... a member of the novice four boat that won its heat and placed fourth out of 26 boats at the SIRA Championships ... placed second to Wisconsin in the novice four race at the Midwest Sprints.
PREP AND PERSONAL:
Was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track and field ... team captain in both sports her senior season ... earned all-conference honors in cross country her junior season ... a member of the 4x800 relay team that set a school record her sophomore year ... finished third at sectionals in 4x800 relay ... a member of National Honor Society while in high school ... daughter of Judy and Dick Manske ... born Jan. 19, 1981, in Chicago, Ill. ... enrolled in the College of Science, hoping to major in biology.
WHY NOTRE DAME?:
"I am a member of this team because of the sense of team unity that I get from rowing. It is a lot easier to pull hard when you have seven other girls pulling with you and for you. On the water or off, I know I have a great team behind me.
