Notre Dame, Ind. - Notre Dame rowers Katherine Burnett, Ann Marie Dillhoff, Becky Luckett and Ashlee Warren today were named 2001 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athletes. It is the second such honor for Burnett, while Dillhoff, Luckett and Warren are all first-time winners.

Burnett, a junior from Germantown, Tenn., rowed in the bow seat of the varsity eight shell, which enjoyed its best season in the short three-year history of the program. Burnett, who won the award in 2000 with former rower Katrina Ten Eyck, becomes the first two-time winner of the honor in Notre Dame history. She has a 3.570 grade-point average, majoring in biology.

A sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, Dillhoff rowed in the seventh seat of the varsity eight boat in 2001. She currently boasts a 3.617 grade-point average and is enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business. Dillhoff is one of three sophomores from Notre Dame named to the team this season.

Luckett, from Columbus, Ohio, rowed in the third seat of the varsity eight for the Irish in 2001. Luckett also teamed with Warren during the fall season to win pairs races at the Chicago Chase and against national power Michigan State. The sophomore has a 3.856 grade-point average in the College of Arts and Letters and has been named to the Dean's List all four semesters she has been at Notre Dame. Luckett is also a member of the Notre Dame Academic Honors Program which pairs student-athletes, who excel at a high level academically, with faculty mentors within the student-athlete's academic area of interest.

A sophomore from Gibsonburg, Ohio, Warren earned CRCA National Rowing Scholar-Athlete honors this season after posting a 3.505 grade-point average in the College of Science. Also a member of the Notre Dame Academic Honors Program, Warren excelled athletically this season, earning first-team all-Central Region honors. She rowed in the sixth seat of the varsity eight this season and posted the best ergometer time on the team at 7:14.30.

The varsity eight won five of eight races in 2001, and earned its first national ranking in school history when it opened the season 14th in the nation. Notre Dame finished the year ranked 16th nationally, and just missed qualifying for the 2001 NCAA Rowing Championships after placing fifth at the Central Region Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
