    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 15 University of Notre Dame women's golf team concluded the first round of the Match-Up Invitational Friday afternoon, placing eighth after firing a 12-over-par 300 at the Southwood Golf Club's par-72 (7,172 yards) course.

    "We got out to a rough start today and we played a little bit more sloppy than we usually do, but tomorrow is a new day and the ladies are excited to get back out and put some good numbers on the board," said head coach Susan Holt.

    Georgia currently leads the field of 12 teams with a two-over-par 290. Bulldog Rocio Sanchez Lobato leads the 64 competitors with a six-under par 66. Sanchez Lobato's score today is a career best round and is just the second time the sophomore has broken 70.

    Lindsey Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz.) lead the Irish with an even-par 72 placing her in a seven-way tie for fifth through the first of three rounds. Weaver's score today is the eighth time she has fired even par or better through the five tournaments she has played in. Weaver additionally ties freshman Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas) with two eagles on the year. Weaver made eagle on a par four measuring a distance of 288 yards. Weaver is tied for third in par four scoring through the first eighteen holes, averaging a 3.90.

    Ashley Armstrong (Flossmoor, III.) shot her second-best round of the season with a two-over par 74, tying for 16th. Armstrong currently ranks second in the tournament in par five scoring, averaging 4.50.

    Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Cali.) also shot her second best round this season with a four-over-par 76, tying for 27th.

    Kelli Oride (Lihue, Hawaii) tied for 41st place after shooting a six-over-par 78.

    Campbell tied for 52nd place with an eight-over-par 80.

    The Irish return to the tee box tomorrow morning at 9:15 a.m. for the second round with team partner, Michigan.
