Led By Albrecht, Irish Seventh After Day Two At The ACC Championship

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. -- Led by sophomore Emma Albrecht's even-par 72, Notre Dame turned in a nine-over par 297 in the second round of the 2017 ACC Women's Golf Championship to take sole possession of seventh place at the Reserve Golf Club Pawleys Island (par 72/6,192 yards).

On Friday afternoon, the resilient Irish rallied on the back nine and, as a group, Notre Dame's four scorers played the their final nine holes at an even-par clip including Albrecht (+1), Jordan Ferreira (-1), Isabella DiLisio (+1) and Maddie Rose Hamilton (-1).

Now 19-over par for the tournament (298-297-595), the Irish enter Saturday's final round of play nine strokes back of Miami and North Carolina State, who are tied for fifth.

After two rounds of play, Duke (570) has a nine stroke lead over Clemson (579), Florida State (579) and North Carolina (579), who are all tied for second. Duke's Leona Maguire (68-72-140) and Florida State's Kim Metraux (69-71-140) are tied atop the individual leaderboard.

Notre Dame Notables

Albrecht carded 14 pars on the day to go along with two bogeys and birdies on the par-4 eighth and par-4 16th holes en route to her 72. On the 16th, she knocked her approach shot to within five feet and then made the birdie putt. The 72 marked her lowest total at the ACC Championship in five career rounds.

Senior Jordan Ferreira turned in her second-consecutive one-over par 73. She kickstarted her second round with a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole. Ferreira, who also had birdies on the par-5 13th and par-3 17th, played her final 14 holes of the second round at one-under par. Playing in her fourth consecutive ACC Championship, the back-to-back 73's are Ferreira's career low marks at the event (now 11 rounds).

Sophomore Maddie Rose Hamilton turned in a second round, three-over par 75 for the Irish. After a birdie at the first hole, she totaled a four-over par 40 on the front nine. But she used back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes to gain some momentum and post a one-under par 35 on the back nine. She also had a birdie at the par-3 17th.

Sophomore Isabella DiLisio also scored for the Irish in the second round, posting a five-over par 77. She had 12 pars on the day and added a birdie on the par-4 ninth.

Next Up

Notre Dame's third round tee times will begin at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday morning and the Irish will once again be paired with Boston College and Louisville. With Saturday's split tee start, Notre Dame will begin the third and final round on the 10th tee.
