Day Three Results

The Notre Dame women's golf team concluded its 2013-14 golf season with an 18th-place finish at the 2014 NCAA West Regional at the Tumble Creek Club (par 72, 6252 yards) at the Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash., under very windy conditions. The Irish shot a 34-over-par 322 on the final day to finish with a three-day 949 (+85) total (316-311-322).
Top-ranked and No. 1 seed Southern California won the West Regional with a 12-over-par 876 as teams from the Pac-12 Conference swept the top three spots and was one of the eight teams from the West Regional at advance to the national finals, May 20-23, in Tulsa, Okla. Host Washington, the No. 4 seed and ranked eighth, was second, one stroke in back of USC with a 13-over-par 877. Sixth-ranked Arizona State and the No. 2 seed in the regional, began the day tied for first with USC, but ended up shooting a 23-over-par 311 in the windy conditions to finish third with a three-day total 889 (23-over-par).
Oklahoma, the No. 3 seed and ranked seventh nationally, finished six strokes in back of the Sun Devils with a 31-over-par 895. Also advancing on from the West regional was No. 8 seed Michigan State as the Spartans finished with a 903 score (+39). Iowa State, the No. 9 seed and No. 12 seed Texas A&M, both tied for sixth with a 45-over-par 909 three-day total. Northwestern, the No. 7 seed, secured the final spot for the West Regional into the national finals, by shooting a 914 (+50) during the three days of competition.
Junior Kelli Oride (Lihue, Hawaii) recorded her best round of the tournament with a five-over-par 77. Oride's round consisted of a team-best two birdies and 10 pars. She birdied the par-five eighth and 15th holes. She finished with a second-best overall score with a three-day 236 total (81-78-77).
Junior Ashley Armstrong (Flossmore, Ill.) posted the lowest three-round total for Notre Dame as she finished with a 233 (76-77-80). Armstrong finished with 10 pars during her round as she finished with an eight-over-par 80 on the final day.
Rookie Jordan Ferreira (University Place, Wash.) ended the day with a 10-over-par 82. Ferreira finished with Notre Dame's third-lowest three-day total with a 240 (79-79-82) score.
Sophomore Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas) struggled on the final day of competition as she shot a 13-over-par 85, eight strokes higher than her five-over-par 77 on Friday. Campbell ended the tournament with a three-day 242 (80-77-85). total after rounds of 80 and 77 over the first two rounds.
After shooting an eight-over par 80 on the first day, Campbell came back in the second round to improve her score by three strokes. Following seven pars on the front nine, Campbell had a two pars and a bogey on the first three holes on the back nine before double-bogeying the par-three 13th hole. She responded from the setback by registering back-to-back birdies on the par-five 14th and par-four 15th holes. Campbell owns the second-best two-day total for the Irish with a 157.
Washington native Jordan Ferreira (University Place, Wash.) shot a seven-over-par 79 for the second straight for a two-day 158 total. Ferreira, who had the second-best score for the Irish on day one, had 11 pars on the day. After five consecutive bogeys on the ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th holes, she pared the final five holes of the round. Ferreira had one birdie on the day on the par-three 17th hole and eight pars.
Senior Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif.) concluded her collegiate career with an 11-over-par 83 to finish with a 245 (81-81-83) over the three rounds.
