WILMINGTON, N.C. - Second-round play at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. was suspended Saturday (Oct. 27) at approximately 12:09 pm (EST) due to heavy rains and inclement weather from Hurricane Sandy. The three-day tournament is being held at the Country Club of Landfall's par 72 Jack Nicklaus Course (6,138 yards). The University of Notre Dame women's golf team, which is ranked 24th and began Saturday morning's second round in fifth place, moved to third overall in the team standings at 14-over par.
Second-round action is expected to resume tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 28) with a shotgun start at 9:30 am.
Duke, ranked fifth nationally, leads the 17-team field at seven-over par. The Blue Devils were two-over on the day before play was stopped. No. 16 Oklahoma State is second, just three strokes ahead of the Irish at 11-over par.
Notre Dame freshman Lindsey Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was one-under par through 11 holes and leads the field of 90 golfers at three under. Duke's Celine Boutier trails Weaver by a single stroke. Both players were one-under today when play was suspended.
Freshman Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas) was Notre Dame's lowest scorer on the day before play was called as she had fired two-under par through 10 holes. The Irish rookie currently has moved up to 12th after standing 43rd following the first day of competition.
Junior Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif.) is currently tied for 83rd place after firing a four-over par through nine holes.
Sophomore Kelli Oride (Lihue, Hawaii) is five-over par through ten holes and is tied for 12th place. Oride had pars on six of 10 holes.
Sophomore Ashley Armstrong (Flossmoor, III.) is tied for 78th after firing a nine-over par through nine holes before play was stopped.
